Lowe’s began utilizing JDA’s Transportation Logistics Management

Therefore, surveys that assess public demand are vital components of any successful program. In the past, needs assessments and participation studies used in outdoor recreation plans and, in particular, the Arizona Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) have not incorporated the needs and desires of young people. THE number of people having antiageing plastic surgery increased dramatically in 2005. Figures to be published tomorrow by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) show that 2279 patients had face or neck lifts in 2005, up 42.1-per cent on 2004. There was a 50.2-per cent increase in the number having eyelid surgery - some 3415 patients - and a 34.8-per cent increase in the number of people having brow lifts, a total of 580 patients. Eyelid surgery is the second most popular procedure after breast augmentation. Although those seeking anti-ageing surgery are overwhelmingly women, the BAAPS statistics are expected to show that men are increasingly turning to cosmetic procedures. TV programmes such as Ten Years Younger, Extreme Makeover and The Swan have all shown the results of antiageing surgery, and there has been a boom in private clinics offering cosmetic procedures in the UK.
Facial nerve palsy results in both loss of function and an altered appearance of the eye. There are a number of procedures used to restore the function of the upper eyelid but the lower eyelid is often ignored. The problems of medial and lateral canthal ligament laxity lead to abnormalities of lacrimal function in addition to inadequate eyelid closure. This series reports the results of lower eyelid surgery in addition to the previously described techniques of upper eyelid reanimation. Lateral ligament tightening and medial canthoplasty in combination with gold weight implantation has been highly successful in managing difficult cases of corneal exposure. The most serious early immediate complication of facial paralysis is due to corneal exposure. The surgical management of the eye is often directed towards the upper lid but the lower lid contributes significantly to the problem of exposure keratitis and corneal ulceration. The contour and position of the lower eyelid influence normal lacrimation. The traditional procedure of lateral tarsorrhaphy is a static procedure that has a number of aesthetic and functional disadvantages (OConnell 1994, Talbot and Atlas 1995, Levine 1994). The “dynamic” procedures of gold weight implantation and palpebral spring are more successful in reanimation of the upper lid. The advantages of gold weight implantation were discussed by the authors in a previously reported series (Atlas 1995).
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLO. — An evidence-based approach is always best for managing and treating skin cancers, and eyelid tumors are no exception, Dr. Harry Sharata said at the annual meeting of the American Society for Mobs Surgery. The choice of Mohs surgery for nonmelanoma eyelid tumors is supported by evidence in the literature, Dr. Sharata said. A review article that examined 110 papers published between 1966 and 1999 justified that conclusion (Ophthalmology 108[11]:2088-98, 2001). Dr. Sharatas patient was an 86-year-old man with a number of health problems. His tumor, an infiltrative basal cell carcinoma (BCC) that had existed for 2-3 years, was located on the lower eyelid of his only seeing eye. He had a glass eye in the other socket. The man also was taking warfarin for a previous stroke. In the orbital region, basal cell, squamous cell, and sebaceous carcinomas occur most often on the lower eyelid, followed by the medial canthus, the upper eyelid, and the lateral canthus.

These article give the impression that concrete is, or can be, made waterproof or watertight with the addition of an admixture. These terms are considered in Concrete Society Technical Report 18 (second edition) A guide to the selection of admixtures for concrete and CIRIA reports 139 and 140 Water-resisting basements. Both documents indicate that concrete cannot be waterproof or watertight in the true meaning of the words since this implies impervious or absolute prevention of penetration by water in liquid and or gaseous form. The correct term that should be used is water-resisting, describing the ability to resist water. This depends on the concrete quality and the effect of any integral admixture. The main function of water-resisting admixtures is to reduce surface absorption and/or passage of water through the hardened concrete. Other benefits such as improved durability may also result from their addition. It is worth noting that BS 8007: 1987 Design of concrete structures for retaining aqueous liquids only requires a certain concrete grade, with limitations on cement content and water/cement ratio to give the necessary water-resisting performance. Water-resisting admixtures are not required. The weak points in any water-retaining or resisting concrete structure are seldom the concrete itself, but cracking and performance of construction and movement joints. These can be controlled with careful design and construction, thereby limiting and subsequent ingress or loss of water.

ABSTRACT Keywords: implantable cardioverter defibrillator, defibrillation threshold testing, cerebral ischemia, neurologic outcome The implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) has become a standard therapy for a variety of patient groups (1). The assessment of defibrillation (DFT) efficacy at the time of implantation has long been the standard and required procedure (2, 3). Documentation of DFT efficacy provides the systems ability to sense, detect, and defibrillate ventricular fibrillation (VF). Different protocols are available for DFT testing (2, 4-6). Traditionally, a safety margin of at least 10 J between the maxi mum output of the pulse generator and the energy needed for defibrillation has been used because early studies indicate that lower safety margins were associated with high rates of failed defibrillation and sudden cardiac death (7,8). Subsequently, some investigators showed that monophasic defibrillation thresholds can increase over time with transvenous lead systems (9, 10). In selected patient, this increase required reoperation. Improvements in ICD technology permitted the routine active pectoral implantation of devices. Such active pectoral pulse generators, in combination with biphasic waveforms, result in marked reductions in DFTs and more stable thresholds long term (9, 11). The Low Energy Safety Study (LESS) examined whether the 10-J safety margin still was necessary using pectoral defibrillators with active can, biphasic shock waveforms (12). The main results of the study showed that a 4 to 6 J of safety margin above the DFT ++ is adequate for safe implantation of modern ICD systems.
